revelation

&

the hero code

Saturday, May 19, 6p.
location provided upon reservation

Superman stands for “truth, justice, and the American way.” Spider-Man knows that “With great power comes great responsibility” and Black Panther proclaims, “Wakanda forever!” The Jewish people also have a "hero code” — the Torah and its 613 commandments. At Shavuot we celebrate the Revelation at Sinai, and the handing down of these mitzvot, which transformed a ragtag group of former slaves into a holy nation.

Join Isaac & Rabbi Shawna Brynjegard-Bialik for a little bit of “pop culture Torah” – a visual presentation and discussion on holiness and hero codes, from parchment scrolls to comic books.
